Change is inevitable—resilience is a choice. Lead your nonprofit forward with purpose and sustainability.

Nonprofits are operating in a rapidly changing environment shaped by recent and emerging federal and state policy shifts, evolving community needs, and growing workforce demands. The St. Louis Philanthropic Organization is hosting From Challenge to Change: Adapting Strategy for Sustainable Impact, a two-part workshop designed to help nonprofit leaders strengthen strategic clarity, adaptability, and sustainability in the face of change. Join us for this hybrid workshop - offered both in-person and virtually! (NOTE: In-person registration is now closed).

Day 1 – November 20, 2025 – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Missouri Foundation for Health, 4254 Vista Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110

The workshop will begin with a comprehensive look at policy changes and their impact on nonprofit programs, funding, and community outcomes. Participants will then explore the Sustainability Mindset through an introduction to the Matrix Map framework, a practical tool for assessing mission impact and financial contribution across organizational activities. Over lunch, legal and human resource experts will discuss critical issues such as compliance, federal implications of DEI policies, and permissible communication in response to shifting policy and workplace expectations.

Our workshop presenters include Amy Blouin, President & CEO of the Missouri Budget Project; Karen Jordan, Office Managing Partner of Dentons' St. Louis office; Tracey O’Brien, Senior Counsel with Husch Blackwell; and Steve Zimmermann, Principal of Spectrum Nonprofit Services.

Register now for the November 20th Workshop! As in-person signup is closed, please us the virtual sign up button above before November 20, 2025.

After the workshop, participants will spend several months developing their own Matrix Maps to inform organizational strategy and identify opportunities for greater alignment and sustainability. Day 2 of the workshop will be held on May 13, 2026, and will focus on Nonprofit Repositioning, using participants’ completed Matrix Maps to guide scenario planning, identify strategic levers, and make informed decisions that enhance mission impact, financial stability, and organizational resilience. Participants will leave with actionable tools and strategies to lead through change, strengthen their organization’s sustainability, and advance their mission with greater clarity and confidence.
