From Crisis to Clarity: Turning Organizational Pressure into a Path Forward

Nonprofits are navigating funding volatility, increasing community needs, workforce shortages, staff burnout, and changing operating conditions. Meeting these challenges requires more than reacting to immediate pressures. It calls for strategic decisions that align mission, resources, people, and organizational capacity.

The St. Louis Philanthropic Organization (SLPO) invites nonprofit leaders to participate in From Crisis to Clarity: Navigating Organizational Pressure and Building an Implementable Path Forward, an interactive capacity-building workshop focused on translating strategic insight into practical action.

In addition to learning about the upcoming SLPO 2027 grant cycle, participants will have the opportunity to:

• Assess organizational capacity and identify mission-critical programs, strengths, and structural challenges.

• Make informed strategic choices about what to protect, strengthen, adapt, pursue, reduce, pause, or stop.

• Support organizational sustainability by examining funding restrictions, true costs, workforce capacity, and responsible uses of AI.

• Explore strategic collaboration by identifying shared goals, organizational assets, and potential partners.

• Develop an initial implementation roadmap with sequenced 30/60/90-day actions and questions for staff, board, and partner conversations.

Through guided reflection, practical tools, and peer strategy labs, participants will apply these concepts to their own organizations. The approach is designed to accommodate organizations of different sizes, structures, and capacity levels.
